Care & Maintenance Instructions
(for 4 Architect Joinery bespoke kitchens, wardrobes & joinery products)
Your bespoke kitchen or wardrobe has been crafted with over 10 years of joinery expertise and premium-quality materials. To ensure that your furniture ages beautifully and serves you for many years, we recommend following these care guidelines:
1. Lacquered & Painted Fronts (Kitchen & Wardrobe Doors)
-
Clean using a soft, damp cloth and plain water.
-
For tougher marks, use a mild detergent (e.g. soap or washing-up liquid).
-
Always wipe dry immediately to prevent water damage, especially around edges.
-
⚠️ Avoid cleaning products that contain alcohol, ammonia, bleach, or abrasives – they will damage the finish.
-
Wipe up spills (wine, oil, coffee, sauces) as soon as possible to avoid staining.
Note: Our lacquered matt finishes (gloss 10) are more sensitive than high-gloss surfaces. Handle them with extra care to avoid scratches.
Wooden Fronts, Panels & Worktops (Solid Wood / Veneered)
Wood is a living, natural material that matures over time. With care, it will develop a warm patina and unique character.
-
Clean with a slightly damp cloth; if needed, use a mild soap solution.
-
Always wipe dry immediately after cleaning.
-
Avoid leaving wet cloths, pots, or damp items on the wood – moisture can cause warping or discolouration.
-
Never place hot pans directly on wood surfaces. Use trivets or mats.
-
Expose wood evenly to light – prolonged shading under objects may cause colour differences.
Stone Worktops (Marble, Quartz, Granite)
-
Clean with mild soapy water and a soft cloth, then wipe dry.
-
Use coasters for wine, coffee, and acidic drinks (citrus, vinegar) to prevent permanent stains.
-
Consider Nano impregnation/sealer for marble and limestone to improve stain resistance.
-
⚠️ Note: Stone is natural – small stains or marks may occur over time, which is part of its authentic beauty.
Metal Handles (Brass, Copper, Chrome, Aluminium)
-
Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap, wipe dry.
-
Brass and copper are living metals – they naturally develop patina.
-
To maintain patina → clean only with mild soap.
-
To restore shine → use a brass/copper polish (apply carefully; avoid contact with wooden/lacquered surfaces).
-
-
For Twine or textured handles → use a soft toothbrush to clean polish residue from grooves.
Wooden Handles & Details
-
Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap, then dry.
-
Avoid alcohol, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners.
-
For mixed wood + metal parts → clean wooden and metal sections separately.
Leather Handles
-
Made from natural untreated leather that will age with a unique patina.
-
To slow down patina → treat with a leather wax or conditioner (like those used for fine shoes).
-
Leather darkens slightly with treatment, which is normal.
Kitchen Legs (Wood / Metal)
-
Wooden legs: Wipe with damp cloth and mild soap, dry immediately.
-
Metal legs (brass, copper, chrome): Same as handles – mild soap and water, or polish if desired.
-
Be cautious when polishing: avoid splashing polish onto cabinets.
Mixer Taps & Fittings
Our taps (Tapwell, Nivito and others) are premium fittings requiring gentle care:
-
Clean with a soft cloth, lukewarm water, and mild soap.
-
⚠️ Do NOT use acidic or abrasive cleaners (ammonia, vinegar, hydrochloric acid, limescale removers).
-
Wipe dry after every use to prevent limescale build-up.
-
Aerators and shower heads should be descaled occasionally (remove and soak in vinegar if needed).
General Tips for Longevity
-
Always wipe surfaces dry after cleaning or spills.
-
Use coasters, mats, and cutting boards to protect surfaces.
-
Ensure regular ventilation in the kitchen to reduce humidity.
